By clicking on any of the above cameras you will be directed away from SEMARA.ORG to a webcam server at N1TI's QTH in Mattapoisett to view each camera live. The thumbnails embedded in this page are automatically updated once per minute. When you reach the webcam server you will be greeted with the option to log on and join the chat session, although it is not required to view the cameras. Another feature of the camera server is the ability to trigger on motion in the clubhouse and save jpeg frames to the online gallery. The gallery will record the last 200 triggered events and display them most-recent-first in the gallery. There are 25 jpeg images per page and up to 8 pages. As lighting changes during the day (clouds) or at night (lightning or headlights) there will be occassional false triggers. Plans are to implement motion on the outside camera at some point too. The outside camera is still being displayed in a non-conventional manner. There is no way to tap the stream direct to embed into the website. A temporary work-around was to start Explorer with the active-x control on a PC here and allow the webcam server capture the desktop image and convert it into a stream. It's a bit of a manual process and in the event of a power failure, it will require manual setup to restore the feed. The other feeds should restore automaticlly. The main purpose of serving the webcams from N1TI's QTH is to try and preserve the necessary bandwidth for Echolink and IRLP. If any of the feeds are down for more than a half-hour, please send an email to technical(at)semara.org. |
